An innovative tool workshop was opened at the Orsha Tool Plant
A workshop for innovative tools has been opened at the Orsha Tool Plant (OIZ), which is celebrating its half-century anniversary this year.
The new workshop of OIZ, part of MTZ-Holding, is a component of a major investment project aimed at organizing the production of modern metal-cutting and auxiliary tools with the implementation of innovative technological processes. The enterprise is establishing the production of high-tech innovative tools that are not serially produced in Belarus and are imported into our country.
An innovative tool workshop has been established in a reconstructed old factory workshop, where construction and installation work was carried out, and some equipment for mechanical, thermal, and galvanic processing of parts was purchased. The enterprise has managed to increase production capacity, improve the quality of manufactured products, and create new jobs. Almost 90% of the equipment is equipped with a numerical control system. The plant's team has mastered the technologies for producing monolithic carbide tools and the production of face mills with interchangeable carbide inserts. This is a unique tool characterized by increased durability, precision, and productivity. Currently, it has no analogues in Belarus. The tools are supplied both to the domestic market of the republic and abroad.
Part of the workshop is not yet in use, but it will not remain idle. The installation of a line of high-tech tools is planned for July this year, and it will be commissioned in October.The investment project is financed by funds from the Republican Centralized Innovation Fund, own funds, and borrowed funds of OJSC "MTZ".
Director of OJSC "Orsha Tool Plant" Leonid Moizhik noted that the new workshop is small, but it concentrates many of the enterprise's competencies, skills, and experience of previous generations. He congratulated the plant's employees on the opening of the new facility, which was one of the events dedicated to the plant's 50th anniversary.
Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Anzhelika Nikitina, who participated in the opening ceremony, emphasized that during the implementation of the development project for the Orsha region, the tool plant has transformed into a modern enterprise that is constantly developing, improving, and attracting young professionals. The new workshop will allow solving tasks for import substitution and the production of innovative products.

The enterprise does not intend to stop at what has been achieved. "I perfectly understand the value of the invested resources, and these are not only financial investments, but also competencies, the intellectual component. What you have is a prize that many enterprises in the Republic of Belarus would like to have. You possess an innovative product that has no analogues in our country. We still have everything ahead of us. We will implement another project here, we still have many unoccupied niches," said the First Deputy General Director of OJSC "MTZ" - Technical Director Sergey Avramenko, who is overseeing this investment project.
