In 2020, livestock breeders in the Vitebsk region achieved a good surplus in milk production
As reported by Viktor Shebalov, Head of the Department of Livestock Production and Branch Construction of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Agriculture and Food Committee, the gross milk production amounted to 740.9 thousand tons (growth rate compared to 2019 – 103.4%) with an average yield of 4030 kg per cow. In this indicator, the Vitebsk region is the leader with 6245 kg. Four more regions surpassed the 5,000 kg mark: Gorodok (5596 kg), Verkhnedvinsk (5437 kg), Orsha (5314 kg), and Beshenkovichi (5020 kg) districts.
Seventeen farms received over 5,000 kg per cow, ten farms – 6,000 kg, and twelve farms – 7,000 kg. СПК "Larinovka" of the Orsha district continues to impress with its increase in European indicators – 11,422 kg (+380 kg), followed by the "SKhP "MazolovoGaz" branch of UP "Vitebskoblgaz" in the Vitebsk district – 9208 kg (+290 kg), OAO "Shaiterovo" in the Verkhnedvinsk district – 8720 kg (+31 kg), OAO "Agrokombinat "Yubileynyy" in the Orsha district – 7845 kg (+27 kg), and OAO "Vitebskaya broylerFP" – 7720 kg (+836 kg).
In the livestock industry of the Vitebsk region, the cow population is 189.9 thousand heads (an increase of 1605 heads compared to 2019), including 182.9 thousand dairy cows (1211).
