In Belarus, drivers must drive with their low beams on from August 25

In connection with the start of the academic year in Belarus, from August 25 to September 5, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will hold a special comprehensive event "Attention - Children!". This was announced to journalists by Sergey Pivovarev, Senior Inspector for Special Assignments of the Main Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as reported by BELTA.

He said that the preventive campaign is designed to increase the level of responsibility of parents and drivers, and to draw public attention to the problem of ensuring children's safety. For this purpose, during the special event, vehicles will be driven with their low beam headlights or daytime running lights on during daylight hours.

He also added that a series of preventive measures for children and adolescents are planned. Special attention will be paid to explanatory work with adults. "On the eve of the academic year, police officers will visit work collectives, explain the causes and consequences of traffic accidents involving children, and remind them of the rules for the safe transportation of minors and the responsibility for their violation," noted Sergey Pivovarev.

Another campaign in anticipation of the new academic year will be the Unified Road Safety Day under the slogan "To the new academic year - safe roads for everyone!". "It will be held on August 30. During the preventive measures, special attention will be paid to raising public awareness of the problem of injuries and deaths of children on the roads," noted the senior inspector.

The events will continue with law enforcement officers participating in opening ceremonies and holding class hours with students during the first week of the academic year. "To prevent traffic violations and provide assistance, police officers will be on duty near schools and in areas with heavy pedestrian and child traffic," said Sergey Pivovarev.
