A dedicated exhibition on the potential of the Vitebsk region is open at the Belarusian pavilion at VDNKh in Moscow

В белорусском павильоне на ВДНХ в Москве работает выставка, посвященная потенциалу Витебской области
The region's days within the framework of the international exhibition-forum "Russia" started on February 2 and will last until the end of the month. This is only the second exhibition of Belarusian regions at VDNKh, but the colossal effect from the representation of the country's regions is already noticeable, noted the Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Dmitry Krutoy, who, together with colleagues from CIS countries, visited the Belarusian pavilion yesterday.

Getting to Know the History

— As we communicate across all segments, including food products, folk crafts, various types of tourism, and ecological routes, we see that visitors are interested in everything, — Dmitry Krutoy shares his impressions. — Near each stand, I am told that hundreds and hundreds of visitors daily are actually discovering our entire republic. Therefore, knowing that the President of Russia has decided to extend the main exhibition-forum "Russia" for another six months, we are already considering what we will showcase after July 3, Independence Day. We need to think about new concepts so as not to lag behind the Russians in this regard. Therefore, every month we see that the level of representation is growing, the level of involvement of enterprises from regions that are yet to be presented at VDNKh is growing. They understand that this is a great opportunity to promote their potential in the Russian market, particularly in Moscow. And the level of contacts here is simply enormous, so one cannot fail to take advantage of such opportunities.
In the first days of operation, several thousand guests of the Belarusian pavilion were able to "taste" Vitebsk region both literally and figuratively. The exhibition presents the achievements of the region's food brands, industrial enterprises, and its cultural and tourist potential. The concept of the Vitebsk Region Days is based on the history of the formation and development of statehood on Belarusian land.

The main milestones in the development of Polotsk, the pearl of the Vitebsk region, are presented asboth offline and online formats. The organizers have tried to maximally reflect the pre-war history of the Vitebsk region: here you can see the costume of a Vitebsk nobleman and a model of the Vitebsk tram (this mode of transport in the regional center recently celebrated its 125th anniversary). A separate stand is dedicated to partisan Vitebsk region: the partisan movement in Belarus and the entire Soviet Union began in these lands. As part of the exhibition, a separate part is dedicated to the partisan Minay Shmyrev himself, the famous Batka Minay. As reported by the Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Anzhelika Nikitina, a Belarusian-Russian film is currently being shot based on the hero's biography. The exhibition also presents the post-war years, the time of the restoration of the destroyed Vitebsk, and light industry products of those years, marked with the USSR GOST sign. Modern Vitebsk region is represented as a tourist destination and a cultural region.
— Our industry is showcased in the trading outlets of the Belarusian pavilion at VDNKh. This includes Belarusian linen produced by our flax mill, which has a rich history, our footwear holding "Marko", and food industry enterprises. As part of the Vitebsk Region Days, the thematic platforms will be modified, with one set of events being replaced by another every two to three days. We have planned master classes from industrial food enterprises: gingerbread coloring, various prize draws from our brand "Vitba", and handicraft crafts. Today, the Liozno House of Crafts is operating here, and it will be replaced by the Dokshitsy House of Crafts. In addition, our festivals will be presented, in particular, the "Cherry Festival" in Glubokoye, — informed the Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

The organizers are particularly drawing attention to the part of the exhibition dedicated to the history of the formation of the famous Vitebsk school of artists. Here, works are exhibited, starting from the old masters and ending with canvases by contemporary painters. Currently, there are six such paintings, but they will be replaced with new ones every few days. In addition, a permanent participant in the events inWithin the framework of Vitebsk Region Days, a school for local fashion designers will be featured. The shows will take place at the central venue of the Belarusian pavilion at VDNKh.

"Everything Made in Belarus is Made with Love"

Colleagues of Dmitry Крутой, heads of diplomatic missions of Kazakhstan, Armenia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, who visited the exhibition, noted not only the hospitality of the hosts but also a number of new aspects in their relationships. The Ambassador of Armenia to Russia, Vagharshak Harutyunyan, who already knows the Belarusian specifics well (the embassies of our countries in Moscow are located very close, and the countries' pavilions at VDNKh are neighbors), told reporters that he would become a buyer of some more goods from our republic:

— I was especially impressed by that pavilion where T-shirts with statements by the President of Belarus are sold, — the Ambassador of Armenia immediately stated.

— Haven't you bought a new item yet? — journalists asked Vagharshak Harutyunyan.

— I still need to choose a quote. But you can say, yes! — the diplomat stated. — And in general, we saw a lot here. The Vitebsk Region exhibition symbolically shows our history, which we went through together. Therefore, we are grateful. Personally, I will direct all my friends and relatives here.

The head of the diplomatic mission of Uzbekistan in Russia, Botirjon Asadov, will surely remember the Liozno House of Crafts and the traditional Vitebsk region fabric printing. The diplomat personally left an imprint of an ornament on a Vitebsk linen napkin in full accordance with the standards of the ancient craft.

— Actually, I have been to Belarus twice and even visited Vitebsk, — Botirjon Asadov said. — I have always been impressed not only by the industry and economic potential but also by the culture, traditions, and most importantly, the friendly people who live in the Republic of Belarus. And today, representatives of the Vitebsk region gave us the opportunity to get to know the region very closely, for which I want to thank them.

The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Russia, Daurben Abaev, probably knows Belarus better than other CIS colleagues: he lived in our country for six months. Therefore, according to the diplomat, he plunged back into memories of the republic:br/>
— I was fortunate enough to visit not only Vitebsk, a glorious city, but also Polotsk and even Glubokoye. It is a unique city where Orthodox and Catholic churches are located side by side. And today, having attended the Vitebsk Region Days, I felt pleasant memories not only of Polotsk and Vitebsk, but also of all of Belarus. Belarusians are a very hospitable people, very cordial. And looking at this exhibition, I see that everything that is done in Belarus is done with love.

BY THE WAY

The Days of Belarusian Regions at VDNKh in Moscow started at the beginning of 2024. The Brest region was the first to present its potential. And until July 3, Belarus Independence Day, all regions will hold their days as part of the large-scale exhibition-forum "Russia". Our pavilion at VDNKh has been chosen as the venue for demonstrating the potential of the country's regions. Two years ago, it was reconstructed, and its operating concept was updated. Subsequently, it was decided to show Muscovites and guests of the Russian capital the best achievements of the Belarusian regions.

— The President made this decision after seeing the results of the presentation of Russian regions within the framework of the "Russia" exhibition and this model in general: when a governor speaks, talks about achievements, and at the same time, major businesses and representatives of the legislative branch are present. Everyone liked this format very much, and it was decided to hold presentations of the regions of Belarus within our pavilion. Given that VDNKh has become the second most visited tourist attraction in Moscow after Red Square, it would be simply criminal not to use such an opportunity, — the Ambassador of Belarus to Russia, Dmitry Krutoy, told reporters.

On February 16, as part of the Vitebsk Region Days at VDNKh, a presentation of the region will be held, to which a number of governors of Russian regions are invited. In March, the Grodno region will present its potential in Moscow.
