The regional executive committee discussed the development of the industrial complex of the Vitebsk region and awarded the best managers and young scientists
The primary task of the Vitebsk region's industrial complex in the current conditions is to prevent a decline in production and export volumes, and the region has reserves for this. First and foremost, they are counting on those sectors that are least affected by sanctions pressure today, and they account for a quarter of the region's production volumes. The development of the industrial complex of the Vitebsk region in the near future, problematic issues, and ways to increase the efficiency of industrial organizations' work under sanctions were discussed at a meeting in the regional executive committee.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin, the Aide to the President - Inspector for the Vitebsk Region Anatoly Linevich, the Minister of Industry Petr Parkhomchik, the First Deputy Minister of Economy Yuri Chebotar, the Deputy Minister of Taxes and Duties Ella Selitskaya, the General Director of the Belarusian Fund for Entrepreneurship Support Petr Arushanyants, the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Union of Employers Vladimir Turavinov, and representatives of the director corps.

Excluding the petrochemical and energy sectors, the industrial production index for the first quarter was 103.2 percent. This growth was driven by economic activities such as woodworking, production of transport vehicles and equipment, electrical equipment, and others. It should be noted that these sectors also contributed to growth last year. For January-February of the current year, the industrial complex generated net profit, ensured profitable operations, and reduced the number of loss-making enterprises.

During the meeting, as is customary, Certificates of Appreciation from the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee and Honorary Diplomas from the Regional Executive Committee, the Committee for Economy of the Regional Executive Committee, Regional Executive Committee awards for achievements in quality for 2021, as well as awards for talented young scientists and specialists, and awards to the winners of the competition "Best Goods of the Republic of Belarus", "Best Manager of the Year of the Vitebsk Region", "Best Design Engineer of the Vitebsk Region", "Best Scientific Developer of the Vitebsk Region" were presented.

As Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Anzhelika Nikitina noted in her speech, the meeting's objective was dictated by the times themselves. The situation has changed in both domestic and foreign markets and has determined new operating rules for the real sector of the economy, where industry holds a primary place. It accounts for about a third of the region's gross regional product, and revenue from the sale of products, goods, works, and services is over 70 percent. It is a paradoxical fact that even under the current sanctions conditions, industrial organizations ensured an increase in production volumes in actual prices for January-March 2022. About 80 percent of industrial organizations increased their production volumes.
