This time, 25 women became laureates of the regional award in honor of the heroic Polotsk woman and mother, Hero of the Soviet Union Zinaida Tusnolobova-Marchenko, and another 10 received the Order of Motherhood.

At the solemn reception in the regional executive committee, mothers are congratulated by the top officials of the region, as always, thereby emphasizing the significance of these women in society, in the region, and in the country as a whole.

– Large, friendly families where healthy children grow up are the key to the strength of the state's foundations. A faithful mother's heart and a strong father's shoulder serve as support in any trials, – is convinced the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Sherstnev. – By supporting motherhood and childhood, we count on increasing the role and responsibility of parents in raising children, and preserving harmony and mutual understanding in family relationships. The personal example of the mother and father comes to the forefront in upbringing issues.

In turn, the state always provides support to such families. The head of the region outlined the scope of assistance that residents of the Vitebsk region raising children receive today, and the measures taken to protect motherhood and childhood.

– In 2021, family capital was granted to almost 1.2 thousand large families. 1.3 thousand decisions were made on the early disposal of capital funds, of which 86% were for the construction and acquisition of housing, – Nikolai Nikolaevich reported. – Material assistance for preparing children for the current academic year was provided to 20.4 thousand families in the amount of 3.4 million rubles. Special attention is paid to the organization of specialized medical care for women and children. In Vitebsk, Orsha, Polotsk, Novopolotsk, and Novolukoml, Centers of Adolescent Friendly Relations have been created, providing medical, psychological, and informational assistance. Maternity hospitals in the regional center, Novopolotsk, and Orsha function as second and third-level perinatal centers. Annually, about 8 thousand women find the happiness of motherhood, of which an average of one hundred give birth to twins.

Nikolai Sherstnev noted that the amount of assistance to families with children in our country is constantly growing. This year alone, the amounts of lump-sum benefits for the birth of a child, monthly child benefits, and benefits for the care of a disabled child have been increased three times. Currently, work is underway to expand the possibilities for early use of family capital, including the purchase of social rehabilitation means for children with disabilities, visual impairments, and musculoskeletal disorders, and additional mechanisms are provided for solving housing issues.

The Assistant to the President – Inspector for the Vitebsk Region, Anatoly Linevich, joined the congratulations to the heroines of the day.

– On behalf of myself and the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus, I want to thank you for what you do for society. You are all very different here, from different regions of the oblast, but you are united in the main thing – you give motherly love to your children, raise them, set them on the right path, and make them useful to the country. In addition to preserving your homes, you also manage to engage in public work, some excel in their professional activities and inspire their work collectives. Sometimes one is impressed by the energy and positivity with which you charge your families and work collectives, – Anatoly Konstantinovich addressed the mothers.

In addition to awards and the warmest words from the oblast leadership, the heroines of the occasion received gifts from organizations such as the Belarusian Women's Union, the Red Cross, the Belarusian Children's Fund, and Belgosstrakh.
