An MRI department has been opened at the Orsha City Hospital
The new MRI machine will help doctors conduct timely, accurate, and safe diagnostics of diseases of the brain and spinal cord, gastrointestinal tract, cardiovascular system, joint capsule-ligament apparatus, and various difficult-to-diagnose pathologies, which will significantly increase the accessibility and quality of medical care for residents of both the Orsha district and four neighboring districts - Dubrovno, Senno, Tolochin, and Chashniki.
"Three radiologists who have undergone special training to operate the new equipment work in the department. If we switch to round-the-clock operation, we may expand the staff of specialists. The number of patients per shift will depend on the pathologies being investigated. If brain diagnostics for ischemic stroke take 15 minutes, then diagnostics of the abdominal cavity with contrast enhancement require an hour. We also need to add patient preparation before the procedure," said the head of the MRI department, Pavel Zhelezny.
The Minister of Health Dmitry Pinevich took part in the solemn ceremony of opening the MRI department. "A new structure for providing medical care is being built here, which will be adopted by other regions. And a great responsibility lies with you, and we will all demand a lot from you," noted the head of the Ministry of Health.
The Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, told reporters about the new department and the development of the healthcare system in the Vitebsk region: "Orsha has only benefited from the opening of such a department. New state-of-the-art equipment and new specialists have appeared here. This is one of the building blocks of the overall construction of the region's healthcare system. Now residents not only of Orsha but also of the nearest districts will be able to receive quality medical care. Undoubtedly, one of the main objects for us will be the modernization of the regional hospital, because there is great hope for the segment of a huge scientific and production educational cluster that we plan to create at the regional hospital."-0-
