In the Orsha district, a brother and sister are working together in a youth combine harvester crew during the harvest

The script for this summer was written in the spring by Victoria Laptinskaya, a future event director and a student at the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts. Today, side by side with her brother Vladislav, she is harvesting grain in the fields of KUP "Mezhevo-Agro" in the Orsha district.

– I'm overwhelmed with emotions, – Vika shares. – Being a combine harvester assistant, especially to someone like my brother, is a great honor and pride. Now my most beautiful sunsets and sunrises are in the field.

The girl feels confident in her new role: she knows how to clean the machine, lubricate the parts, and adjust whatever is needed.

Vladislav Laptinsky says it's comfortable working with his sister.

– We understand each other without words, – he notes. – She's a clever girl with capable hands. She already knows and can do a lot. If necessary, she could even take the combine harvester's controls herself.

And it's no wonder, because Vika and Vlados have a wonderful teacher – their father Valentin. Last year, the Laptinsky father-son duo were the first in the Vitebsk region to surpass the thousand and three-thousand-ton marks for grain harvested.

And today, the senior combine harvester operator and his assistant Victoria intend to be the first in the district to surpass the thousand-ton mark among young crews. Daily, weather permitting, the youth crew harvests about 150 tons of grain.

– We are very supportive and concerned about our youth, we try to support them in everything and encourage them for their diligent work, – emphasizes Olga Nikitenkova, chairman of the regional committee of the trade union of agricultural workers. – Young farmers should feel how important their work is for the country and its people. After all, they set an example for all other young people in the country, working side by side with the older generation and demonstrating worthy results.
