The first rally of volunteer squads was held in Polotsk
The solemn opening of the gathering began with a rally near the memorial sign "To Border Guards of All Generations" in the park named after the 50th anniversary of Soviet Power near the Mound of Immortality, opened in the Year of Historical Memory and on the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Polotsk Border Detachment.
The event was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Alexey Geroyev, deputy chairmen of the border Braslav, Verkhnedvinsk and Miory district executive committees, border rural executive committees, and representatives of the veteran organization of the Polotsk Border Detachment.
At the Polotsk Cadet School, the results of the volunteer detachments' work in the Polotsk Border Detachment's area for 2023 were summarized, and tasks for the current year were set. The best volunteer detachment – at the Vidzy village executive committee – was awarded a diploma and a challenge prize. The border guards also recognized the best detachment member. This was Ivan Kirillov from the detachment at the Druya village executive committee.
- I want to note the invaluable role of volunteer detachments in our joint activities to protect our state borders, - said Alexey Geroyev. - After all, we all know what difficult times we live in – a time of armed conflicts around the world. And today, more than ever, the role of our civilian formations, in the ranks of which are true patriots, is important.
Alexey Geroyev presented letters of gratitude from the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee for fruitful joint activities with the Polotsk Border Detachment to Eduard Tsehan (Osvy village executive committee) and Oleg Talapin (Vidzy village executive committee).
For the event participants, a concert program was held with the participation of the military band of the Polotsk Border Detachment.
At the conclusion, shooting competitions took place.
