In Vitebsk, additional utility services forces have been involved in snow removal

Around 350 people and more than 50 units of special equipment are involved in Vitebsk in clearing snow that covered the city last night. This was reported by Vitebsk Housing and Communal Services and the State Enterprise "Gordormost".
The regional center was hit by a cyclone, which was unexpected for the first spring month. Nevertheless, utility services began clearing snow early in the morning, and some even at night, with additional reserves being involved. And they have an extended working day ahead of them, as according to the forecast, snow will continue to fall until late evening - approximately until 11 p.m.

Since 6 a.m., all janitors employed by the Housing and Communal Services, as well as additional forces, have been dispatched to clear snow. About 270 people are involved in clearing courtyards. 20 units of snow removal equipment have been sent to assist them.

As for the streets of Vitebsk, as reported to a BELTA correspondent at the Vitebsk "Gordormost" enterprise, about 35 units of equipment were clearing snow there at night - convoys were moving along the roadway. The enterprise also sent about 80 people to clear sidewalks. The work is complicated by the fact that the snow is heavy - it was wet last night, and now ice has formed. Snow continues to fall, and within an hour, new drifts form in the cleared areas. Enterprise employees will work today in an enhanced mode. Residents of the regional center are asked to treat the work of utility services with understanding, and motorists are urged not to overtake snow removal convoys.

Vitebsk residents should be cautious when crossing unregulated pedestrian crossings, especially when snow is falling heavily. The State Automobile Inspectorate reminds that in difficult weather conditions, it is harder for a vehicle to stop on a snow-covered or icy road surface, so it is important for pedestrians to be vigilant and not to rush at crossings. Traffic police officers also recommend marking themselves with reflective elements so that drivers can brake in time. Traffic police inspectors will assist motorists who find themselves in difficult situations on the roads. Anyone who encounters an emergency situation is asked to report it by calling 102.
