In Vitebsk, the winners of the regional review-competition for the best organization of labor protection work were awarded
More than 200 organizations took part in the competition, 72 of them reached the second stage, and four became winners. In the non-production sphere, the winner was recognized as the "Vitebskgruzservis" branch of the Vitebsk branch of Belarusian Railways. Among production enterprises in nominations with different numbers of employees, the laureates were: the republican state enterprise "Center for the Disposal of Aviation Means of Destruction", the "Polotskvodokanal" branch of UP "Vitebskoblvodaokanal", and "Vitebskoblgaz".
– These collectives can serve as an example in organizing labor protection work. The purpose of such a competition is to identify organizations that have sufficient experience in this area and to conduct training based on their experience. Labor protection is also the field of activity for trade unions and public organizations. When we evaluated the enterprises, we noticed: where trade unions are actively working, the indicators of safe labor are much higher. Controlling and supervisory bodies, the directorate, and the security service ensure a sufficient level of compliance with all norms. But if there is a public inspector nearby who can, at any second, prevent rash actions and ensure compliance with safety regulations, then he will save from trouble. It is gratifying that this year fatal accidents in the Vitebsk region at work have decreased by more than 30%, – noted Yuri Derkach, member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, chairman of the regional trade union association.
The senator also emphasized that labor protection issues have been repeatedly raised at meetings of the regional executive committee, the presidium of trade unions with the participation of the region's leadership. This confirms the importance and relevance of this issue.
Alexander Brantsevich, General Director of Vitebskoblgaz, stated that more than 10 million rubles are allocated annually for creating safe working conditions, industrial sanitation, including improving equipment and technologies, purchasing personal protective equipment, and public awareness campaigns.
– More than three thousand people work at the enterprise. We have hazardous production, so strict adherence to all labor protection requirements is necessary. And everyone, from the general director to the fitter, is focused on one goal – supplying enterprises and the public with gaseous fuel, as well as ensuring industrial and fire safety standards, etc., – explained the head of the company.
Presenting well-deserved awards to the winners, Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin emphasized the importance of caring for the life and health of every member of the work collective.
– For several years, we have observed a positive trend of decreasing industrial injuries, but we cannot afford to relax. Recent days have been overshadowed by accidents at the Orsha Meat Canning Plant and Vitebskdrev, where people were injured. These are tragic pages in this history, but if it weren't for such intensive work on labor protection, there would have been many times more such incidents. The ongoing competition is an incentive to improve in this area of work. Everything is done so that a person returns home from work alive, healthy, and happy, – stressed the head of the region.
Aleksandr Subbotin also presented letters of appreciation from the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee to a number of organizations for the high level of labor protection, prevention of injuries and occupational diseases, and preservation of employee health.
