The winner of the regional stage of the republican competition "Student of the Year" has been determined in Vitebsk.
– All conditions for supporting and self-realization of youth have been created in our country, – emphasized Marina Novitskaya, Head of the Main Department of Ideological Work and Youth Affairs of the regional executive committee. – The student years are the most unforgettable time in everyone's life, filled with discoveries, impressions, and achievements. Events like "Student of the Year" not only give young people an opportunity to express themselves, but also allow us to see talented, bright, ambitious young people, those who only move forward! The emotions that the participants will experience today, they will carry through their whole lives.
The venue for the competition was Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov. 13 participants from 6 universities of the region competed for the title of the best student of the Vitebsk region and the right to represent the northern region in the final. All of them excel in their studies and can boast of achievements in science, creativity, sports, and much more.
Three students represented Polotsk State University named after Euphrosyne of Polotsk. Among them is Polina Khrol, a third-year student of the Faculty of Finance and Economics, a participant in the regional governor's ball in 2022, a laureate of the annual special prize "Krynitsa Vedau" in the "Talent of the Year" nomination as part of the "Konferans" hosts, as well as Nikita Mironovich, a student of the Faculty of Law, a member of the student council of the Faculty of Law, a participant in the "Konferans" student host club, and Denis Atrokhov, a student of the Faculty of Computer Science and Electronics, a scholarship holder of the university's personal scholarship.
Vitebsk State Technological University – 3rd-year students of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Robotics Vladislav Ugolev and Kirill Ogurchenok, who are laureates and prize-winners of various international competitions and festivals, such as: "Global Asia" in Beijing, "Musical Express-2021" (Rostov-on-Don), Moscow's "For a Dream", "Dream with Musicatoff" and others.
Milana Alekseeva, a fourth-year student of the Faculty of General Medicine, winner of the literary competition of the military-patriotic club, represented Vitebsk State Order of Friendship of Peoples Medical University. The student has scientific publications on cardiology, public health and healthcare, and other achievements.
Four contestants represented Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov. Anastasia Shugaley, a 3rd-year student of the Faculty of Law, is the winner of the republican video contest "Legal Workshop – 2023" in the nomination "Passport is Important!", and the winner of the university beauty and artistic talent contest "Miss VSU-2023". Anna Perkhalskaya, a student of the Faculty of Pedagogy, also has many victories to her credit. Among them are the V International Dance Project Dream Dance Fest, the national festival-competition of youth creativity in the Vitebsk region "Fire of Youth Talents". Students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technologies Alexey Perkhalsky and Alexandra Kolkova also performed from the same university.
The participants from the Vitebsk Order of the Badge of Honour State Academy of Veterinary Medicine were 2nd-year student Victoria Romanovets and Alexandra Shapurva. The young women are active participants in various university projects and competitions.
Veronika Yukhnovets represented the Vitebsk branch of the International University "MITSO". The young woman studies at the Faculty of Humanities and is a 1st-degree laureate of the "Golden Lyre" international vocal competition, a 1st-degree laureate of the "Zvezdopad" international competition, and others.
For several hours, the students competed in various challenges – a presentation, an oratory skills competition where they spoke about their future profession, and a creative round where they introduced themselves and demonstrated their talents.
According to the results of the competition, 2nd place was shared by Anastasia Shugalei and Alexey Perkhalsky, 3rd place – by Veronika Yukhnovets and Kirill Ogurchenok. In the final of the republican competition, the Vitebsk region will be represented by the winners of the regional stage.
