A museum exhibition 'Combat Equipment of the War Years' opened in Vitebsk
As Tatiana Kuzmich, head of the education department of the administration of the Pervomaysky district of Vitebsk, told us, the idea to create a museum exhibition arose after holding a district competition of the same name among preschool educational institutions.
– When we saw the masterpieces created with their own hands by children with their parents and educators, we realized that their work should not be in vain. Therefore, on the eve of Victory Day and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, we decided to create a unique, I dare say, museum room, – noted Tatiana Kuzmich. – This event is significant for us, as it is the first time we are opening such an exhibition at a preschool educational institution. Looking at the work that was put into creating this museum room, we can confidently say that excursions can be conducted here not only for children and educators of our district, but also for the entire city, region, and country.
According to Natalia Rubinova, head of preschool development center for children No. 3 in Vitebsk, it took three months to prepare the exhibition. In addition to mock-ups of military equipment, the exhibition features stands with information about the events that took place in Vitebsk during the Great Patriotic War, and the partisan movement in the region. It also includes items found by search parties during excavations: helmets, canteens, spoons, and much more. These were donated to the museum by Lyudmila and Stanislav Nikitin, head and museum keeper of the folk comprehensive museum "History of the Zaronsky Region".
The first tour was attended by heads of structural divisions of regional and city executive committees, representatives of the administration of the Pervomaisky district, and public organizations.
– In general, emotions are overwhelming. We are used to discussing patriotic education and respectful attitude towards the historical and cultural traditions of our country with older children: schoolchildren, college and university students. But after today's meeting, we unexpectedly discovered the possibility of working in this direction with preschoolers. After all, it is indeed very important to teach children love for their Motherland, city, and family from an early age. Then they will transmit these values in the future, – said Larisa Olenskaya, chairperson of the Vitebsk City Council of Veterans. – It is very significant that the museum exhibition opened on the eve of Victory Day and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders. This indicates that, despite the fact that the number of Great Patriotic War veterans is decreasing every year, unfortunately, pride in the feat of the Soviet people and the memory of the heroism shown by our fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers are passed down from generation to generation.
After the tour, a concert "Memory Album", prepared by the educators and pupils of the institution, was organized for the guests. And at the end of the event, everyone took part in planting the Victory Tree.
