The renovated Metallists Bridge has been opened in Vitebsk
In Vitebsk today, November 14, traffic on the Metallistov Bridge has resumed. Representatives of regional and city authorities, public organizations, and citizens took part in the opening ceremony after the reconstruction of this important facility.
Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin congratulated everyone on the festive event:
— Every year, Vitebsk becomes better, more convenient, and more beautiful. Today, we are opening a highway that is very important for the residents and industrial life of the city. Thanks to the bridge builders who participated in its restoration. The reconstruction was carried out in a very short period, and they did their job with dignity.
As a gift for the holiday, the head of the region presented the General Director of OJSC "Vitebskoblavtotrans" Alexander Fedukovich with a certificate for ten domestic buses.
Chairman of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee Alexey Geroev told journalists about further plans for the renovation of infrastructure facilities in the regional center. According to him, great attention is currently being paid to the repair of the city's street and road system as a whole:
— In 2020, we opened the Polotsk overpass, then Gagarin Street. Today, it's the Metallistov Bridge. This year, we started reconstructing the bridge on General Ludnikov Avenue. We plan to complete it by the end of next year. The next stage will be the reconstruction of the Blokhina Bridge and the Oktyabrsky Bridge.
In addition, significant efforts are concentrated on repairing the carriageway of the street and road network, the head of the city stated. According to him, this year, pothole repair was carried out on an area of about 100 thousand square meters, which is four times the volume of last year. Continuous asphalt paving was done on almost 200 thousand square meters. Attention was also paid to paving streets in the private sector, including profiling with the addition of asphalt granulate and other loose materials. About 280 thousand square meters were profiled, Alexey Geroev noted:
