Vitebsk summed up the results of the charity event "Our Children", which became the concluding chord of a large-scale marathon of good deeds. For a month, volunteers and concerned citizens fulfilled hundreds of children's wishes, collecting a significant number of gifts for those in need.

The Chairperson of the regional organization of the Belarusian Red Cross Society, Galina Zhelanova, spoke about the results of the charity marathon, which started on December 1 and lasted for 45 days. According to her, this year's gift collection campaign exceeded all expectations.

– We had five locations, which allowed us to increase the number of children who received gifts to more than a thousand throughout the region, – noted Galina Zhelanova.

In addition, the organization did not leave the elderly citizens unattended, participating in the "From the Whole Heart" campaign.

– We visited nursing homes and boarding institutions, such as the Bogushevskoye boarding house, as well as our regional specialized center, which houses 150 patients. Today we are heading to the Novopolotsk nursing home, where 85 patients are waiting for us, – she added.

Galina Zhelanova emphasized that the success of the campaign was made possible by the joint efforts of the residents of Vitebsk region, volunteers, and the media.

– I am sincerely grateful to everyone who responded and took part in the campaign, – she concluded.

The Chairperson of the Vitebsk city organization of the Belarusian Red Cross, Alesya Kosareva, noted that the participants' activity this year exceeded all expectations.

– We received over 1.2 thousand gifts from the public and assembled 540 gift packages. We also managed to collect over 110 packs of diapers, more than 450 toys, stationery, and sweet sets. This allowed us to bring joy to many children, – said Alesya Kosareva.

The main recipients of the gifts were children from the regional specialized Children's Home. Thanks to the generosity of the citizens, gifts will also be transferred to six educational institutions in Vitebsk, including a correctional and developmental center, specialized kindergartens, and a special school.

Volunteers, including students from Gymnasium No. 7 named after P. Kondratenko and Secondary School No. 38 in Vitebsk, as well as students from the Technological University, played a key role in organizing and conducting the campaign.

– This is our first time participating in "Yolka Zhelaniy" (Tree of Wishes), and it wasn't difficult. People actively responded to our call to participate in the marathon of good deeds, – shared his impressions Maxim Batorsky, a student of Secondary School No. 38, commander of the youth detachment for law and order protection "Volat" named after Viktor Ozerov, and commander of the volunteer detachment "Druzhba".
