A SDG seminar was held in Vitebsk
Any organization registered and operating in the Republic of Belarus can participate in the competition. Their initiatives must comply with at least one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, as well as one of the four SDG acceleration platforms.
— Those who become winners of the competition will be able to receive funding for the implementation of their project – up to 22 thousand dollars, — explained Elena Borzdyko, Deputy Chairperson of the Economics Committee of the Regional Executive Committee, who is a member of the Vitebsk Regional Group for Sustainable Development. — For some large enterprises, this may not be a very large sum. But for public organizations, institutions of the budget sphere, I believe, this is a good opportunity to finance their project and, based on its implementation, to advertise the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals in a specific region.
REFERENCE «VV». The following platforms for accelerating the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals have been identified in our republic:
- a "green" transition to inclusive and sustainable growth;
- focus on future generations: adolescents and youth;
- digital transformations and social innovations;
- gender equality in society.
Representatives from various regions of the Vitebsk Oblast, public organizations, and higher education institutions were invited to the seminar, which was conducted by UNDP representatives in cooperation with the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee's Economy Committee. Some participants joined the session online. UNDP representatives spoke about the international technical assistance project "Support for the Republic of Belarus's Efforts in Nationalizing and Localizing the Sustainable Development Goals" and specific initiatives aimed at achieving the set objectives. Additionally, experts explained the requirements for preparing and submitting applications for the competition, demonstrated potential approaches to their development, and outlined the platform and methods to be used. A quiz on the SDGs was also conducted for the attendees, allowing everyone to reinforce and expand their knowledge.
The information obtained at the seminar will be useful for preparing and refining applications. Applications will be accepted from May 1 to May 31 of the current year.
The competition is being held as part of the joint project "Support for the Republic of Belarus's Efforts in Nationalizing and Localizing the Sustainable Development Goals," funded by the Government of the Russian Federation.
