The Week of Friendly Cooperation between Vitebsk Region and Shandong Province of China has started in Vitebsk

Cooperation between the Vitebsk region and the Chinese province of Shandong has been ongoing for 15 years.

The Cooperation Week is held within the framework of the IX International Economic Forum "Innovations. Investments. Prospects". Due to pandemic restrictions, the week's events with the participation of Chinese partners are held online. A prelude to the main program of the forum was a video conference between the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, and the Governor of Shandong Province, Zhou Naixiang. The discussion included the expansion of economic cooperation beyond the framework of the Chinese industrial park "Great Stone". Special economic zones (SEZ "Vitebsk", TLC "Bremno-Orsha") exist both in our region and in Shandong Province. Within their framework, it is also necessary to develop ties in a wide range of areas.

As for cooperation in the socio-cultural sphere, it is developing more effectively. The range of schoolchildren studying Chinese is purposefully expanding in the Vitebsk region. There is already experience in teaching it in schools as a first foreign language. In addition to Vitebsk and Orsha, other regions of the oblast are joining this initiative, in particular, Polotsk and Chashniksky districts. Schoolchildren from the Vitebsk region win the republican Olympiad in Chinese. Now, the task has been set to involve higher education institutions more broadly in cooperation. Within the framework of the week, a ceremony was held to open the Alliance of International Educational Cooperation, as well as a dialogue between universities. From our side, representatives of VSTU, PSU, VGMU, and the Academy of Veterinary Medicine took part in it.
