Another planetarium has been opened in the Vitebsk region. Now there are four of them in the Vitebsk region.
Students of Kirov Secondary School have moved closer to the stars – an educational planetarium has opened under its dome.
This is the second planetarium in the Vitebsk district (the first was opened at Novkinskaya Secondary School) and the fourth in the Vitebsk region, which is rightly called the most astronomical.
School Principal Olga Artemenko, teachers, and students invited guests who came for the occasion to take a "star" journey from the entrance of the educational institution to the dome itself. Among the guests were Gennady Sabinich, Chairman of the Vitebsk District Executive Committee, Viktor Dorozhkin, Chairman of the District Council of Deputies, Olga Trublovskaya, Head of the Education Department of the District Executive Committee, and Vladimir Golubev, a well-known Belarusian astronomer, educator, and associate professor at the Department of Engineering Physics of VSU named after P. M. Masherov.
The planetarium was opened primarily thanks to the financial assistance of the local authorities, as well as the dedication of the school's teaching staff and its head. At the opening ceremony, Viktor Dorozhkin presented the children with a rare exhibit – a poster depicting all the cosmonauts in the history of space exploration, which was once donated by the famous test pilot, the wife of a cosmonaut, Marina Popovich, who is our countrywoman – she is from the Vitebsk region.
