Vitebsk region has the highest potato yield in the country

Belarusian farmers have completed potato harvesting. In the public sector, potatoes have been harvested from 26 thousand hectares – 100 percent of the cultivated area.

790 thousand tons of tubers have been dug up. Last year, it was 652 thousand. This year, the gross harvest is higher due to increased acreage and yield growth. If in 2021 each hectare yielded 271 centners of tubers per hectare, then now it is 302. The highest yield is in the Vitebsk region – 378 centners per hectare. In Grodno – 322, Minsk – 318, Mogilev – 310, Brest – 298, Gomel – 210.

It should be noted that traditionally the lion's share of potatoes is produced in private households. In 2021, about 4 million tons of tubers were dug up there. This year will be no less.
