In the Vitebsk region, 81.12% of citizens took part in the referendum

Voter turnout in the republican referendum was 78.61% of the total number of registered voters, reported Igor Karpenko, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Belarus for Elections and Republican Referendums.

The head of the CEC recalled that polling stations for the referendum concluded their work in Belarus at 8:00 PM. 5,510 polling stations were opened for the referendum, including 217 in sanatoriums, health resorts, rest homes, hospitals, and other healthcare organizations providing inpatient medical care, and 12 in military units.

"The well-coordinated mechanism of interaction between all stakeholders in conducting the referendum allowed it to be held in accordance with current legislation without any incidents. Today, every citizen had the opportunity to come to the polling station and vote. 78.61% of citizens from the total number included in the voter lists arrived at the polling stations. This is operational information from the regional and Minsk city commissions as of 8:00 PM," said Igor Karpenko.

By region: Brest region - 78.89%, Vitebsk region - 81.12%, Gomel region - 81.74%, Grodno region - 77.43%, Minsk region - 79.46%, Mogilev region - 82.94%, Minsk - 71.37%.

"The CEC thanks all citizens who participated in the republican referendum and demonstrated their civic stance. I want to express special gratitude to the members of the referendum commissions, representatives of law enforcement agencies, rescuers, and doctors who ensured safety during the referendum," noted Igor Karpenko.
