The updated "Memory" museum was opened at Vitebsk Secondary School No. 15 named after M. Chumanihina
– This educational institution is not foreign to me; my school years were spent here. It can be confidently said that teachers lay the foundation necessary for the future path. If you move forward boldly, dare, everything will surely work out, and you can achieve a lot, – noted Alexander Subbotin. – On the eve of the Day of National Unity – a young holiday, we once again reflect on its importance. After all, if we fight each other, the people, the country, the nation will disappear. But we will not allow this; only together can we achieve a lot. I wish the children to always be united.
The head of the region familiarized himself with the school's transformations and noted that in a short time, everything here has changed both externally and internally. And the transformation of the educational institution continues.
Within the school walls, the renovated exposition of the "Memory" museum was also opened. It first opened its doors in 1987. Today, it boasts about 500 exhibits: documents, photographs, household items, weapon fragments, materials about front-line heroes from the urban-type settlement of Rubas, nearby villages, and much more.
– I was a tour guide here when I was still a schoolgirl, – said history teacher Olga Sapsalyova. – This summer, the museum was reconstructed, it became interactive. The first exhibition tells about the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. We emphasize to the children that from the very first minutes, the Soviet people offered fierce resistance. The second hall, "Days and Nights of Fascist Captivity," is the most impressive for students. Here, a destroyed stove, scorched walls, barbed wire, and photographs of concentration camp prisoners vividly demonstrate the atrocities of the German invaders. In other halls, we talk about the partisan movement (three such brigades operated in the Ruba region), the hero cities that met the Nazis like powerful bastions, and the roads to Victory.
The museum hosts excursions, informational and class hours, and meetings with veterans. Students write research papers, which they present at various conferences. School Principal Antonina Ershova emphasized that children from other districts of the region also visit the museum, and the exhibition will be expanded. The younger generation must know what war brings to people and do everything to ensure that terrible events do not happen again.
