Vitebsk joined the nationwide campaign 'Together with Art'
The event is timed to coincide with the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders and the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.
The Vitebsk State Musical College named after I.I. Sollertinsky became the venue. The event is organized by the Youth Variety Theater with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus. Its goal is to tell about the contribution of the Belarusian people, cultural and art figures to the struggle and liberation of our country from the occupiers, and to honor the memory of the war participants.
The grand opening began with a performance by the brass band of the music college, led by Igor Koshelev. The event was held in the format of an open dialogue: the artists of the variety theater not only performed thematic compositions but also shared stories of their relatives who survived the terrible events of the war.
— My grandmother was 15 years old when the Germans took her prisoner. She always spoke with difficulty about the atrocities of the occupiers and each time at the end of the story repeated: cherish peace, — said Ekaterina Shumskaia, a soloist of the Youth Theater.
In addition to the concert, all attendees could familiarize themselves with thematic exhibitions located in the foyer of the educational institution. The Vitebsk Regional Museum named after M.F. Shmelyov presented the expositions "Partisan Formations of the Surazh Partisan Zone" and "We Conquered the Sky," and the Regional Museum of Local Lore told about the patriots of Vitebsk region. By the way, every corner of Belarus hosting the event provides an exhibit that reflects the scale of the military tragedy in their native land. From the northern region, the painting "Vitebsk. Victory Square. Monument to the Liberator Soldiers, Partisans and Underground Fighters" was sent to the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War.
During the republican event "Together with Art," artists of the Youth Theater will hold more than 30 dialogue platforms throughout the country. The next meeting will take place on April 30 in Lepel and Dokshytsy.
