The Vitebsk region won 124 diplomas at the final stage of the subject Olympiad
The team from the northern region of the country took first place among the regions and second place after Minsk (127 diplomas). Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Sherstnev noted that the region's education system has been recognized as the best in Belarus for the second year in a row. "The result indicates that we are on the right track. And the reforms that we began to implement together several years ago demonstrate this. Everything was and is being done for the sake of our children's knowledge. The results of centralized testing, the republican competition of research papers by students, and the final stage of the subject olympiads are steadily improving," said the governor. The Regional Executive Committee assists in developing the material and technical base of educational institutions that effectively work with gifted children. Over four years, almost Br1.9 million has been allocated for this purpose.
Nikolai Sherstnev thanked teachers and university professors for their work. The largest number of victories were achieved by students of Veronika Laktina, an informatics teacher at Gymnasium No. 8 in Vitebsk (9), Svetlana Matrosova, a mathematics teacher at Gymnasium No. 2 in Vitebsk (7), Natalia Dobrotskaya, a mathematics teacher at Gymnasium No. 8 in Vitebsk (5), and others. "Only intelligent, educated, highly professional people can truly strengthen our country's power and improve the people's well-being. Therefore, the state values and stimulates the work of pedagogical staff in educational institutions and students who have achieved high results," added the head of the region.
