Vitebsk region exported goods worth more than $1.5 billion in six months

Export of goods from the Vitebsk region for January-June exceeded $1.5 billion, as reported by the Main Statistical Department of the region.
"According to preliminary data, in the first half of 2022, exports of goods in the Vitebsk region increased by almost 1.5 times and amounted to $1.54 billion. Of these, CIS and EAEU countries accounted for $660 million and $617 million, respectively, with supplies to the Russian Federation amounting to $590 million. For the same period last year, the region exported goods worth more than $1 billion," the department said. - The import growth rate approached 140% - $2 billion. In the first half of 2021, this figure exceeded $1.4 billion."

Russia ranks first among the countries to which enterprises in the northern region of Belarus supply their products. As the department clarifies, in January-May, Russia accounted for almost 40% of the total export volume. The Vitebsk region exported more than 36% to the European Union countries, and about 23% to others. Russia also holds leading positions in imports of goods to our country - over 88%. The EU and other countries account for slightly more than 5% and 6.5% respectively.

The Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Latvia, Poland, China, Lithuania, and Ukraine also remain among the main trading partners of the Vitebsk region. In January-May, the northern region supplied goods to the markets of 74 countries and imported products from 87. In total, export-import operations were registered with 98 states.
