Vladimir Terentyev took part in the information and educational campaign "Roads of Courage and Resilience" in Rossony

The republican patriotic event "Roads of Courage and Resilience" has marched through the country's settlements awarded the pennant "For Courage and Resilience during the Great Patriotic War." In essence, this is the Belarusian equivalent of the title "Hero City." 20 cities, six towns, and one village have been honored with this distinction. The participants of the event will visit all of them. On the eve of the mournful date – June 22, when the Great Patriotic War began 81 years ago – the organizers, representatives of the Belarusian Society "Knowledge," visited Rossony and Molodechno.

Rossony region made a significant contribution to the Great Victory. During the war, 28 partisan brigades and 40 detachments operated here, which is why the Rossony region is rightfully considered the partisan capital of Belarus.

The speakers reminded those gathered that the partisan detachments were multinational. They included not only Belarusians and Russians but also Ukrainians, Poles, and people from the Baltics... Today, while some countries honor the past and the feats of their people, others are trying to rewrite history, desecrate memorials, and demolish monuments to the liberator soldiers... These facts became the leitmotif of the meeting, which was attended by about 300 people, including representatives of the executive committee and the deputy corps. Vladimir Terentyev, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies, believes that such meetings allow the authorities to stay abreast of current issues that concern society:

— The "Roads of Courage and Resilience" event has become a continuation of the tradition of holding dialogue platforms. We have seen that such open forms of communication are in demand, and people truly respond. It is very important that both republican and regional leaders meet with the population in this format.

Vladimir Terentyev noted the importance of parents of schoolchildren attending such meetings. Most of the children did not live to see their great-grandparents who could have told them firsthand about those terrible events in our country's history. This relay of memory must be picked up by mothers and fathers and passed on to their children. We have no right to forget, especially now, when some Western countries are attempting to rewrite history, Vladimir Terentyev is confident:br />
— Today, historical memory must also be discussed in the context of the criminal investigation into the genocide of the Belarusian people during the war. It is no coincidence that Rossony was chosen as the starting point of the event. A huge number of civilians were shot here, and almost the entire Jewish population was exterminated in the ghetto. A vivid example of the genocide of our people is the German punitive operation "Winter Magic," during which almost every second person was killed in the territory of the Osveya and Rossony districts.
