Fostering patriots and ideas of unity: the dialogue platform "United Belarus" was held in Orsha"

September 11, Orsha /Alesya Pushnyakova - BELTA/. At the dialogue platform held in Orsha during the republican information and educational campaign "Belarus United", representatives of public associations, the veteran organization, and labor collectives of the Vitebsk region discussed issues of patriotic education of youth, women's participation in public life, and many others, BELTA correspondent reports.
When asking questions, participants of the dialogue platform should be ready to answer them themselves - speakers adhered to this principle to involve the audience in an active discussion of the topics raised. In this way, it was possible to find out what concerns people on the ground and how they see the solution to emerging problems. "The concept of today's meeting is dialogue. We are waiting for proposals, expression of opinions on certain issues. But the center of the conversation will be a range of topics related to national unity - in the historical aspect and even more so at the current, modern stage. It is fundamentally important for our society to ensure peace and harmony, to find the foundations on which the development of civil society will be based, and these foundations must be accepted by the citizens of our country," Oleg Romanov, Chairman of the public association "Belaya Rus" and the Belarusian party "Belaya Rus," told reporters before the start of the dialogue platform.

Speakers discussed with activists of the Vitebsk region the issues of fostering patriots of their country, and whether such a phenomenon has a final point. The participants of the dialogue platform agreed that it is a process that will continue as long as there are those who need to be set an example and guided on the right path. The youth of Belarus, as emphasized by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the BRSM, Alexander Lukyanov, are creative, active, and initiative-driven. However, sometimes young people fall under the influence of destructive trends, and the task of public associations, political parties, educators, and parents is to teach the younger generation to critically assess various "injections" from the World Wide Web. The fact that today's young men and women love their native land is evidenced by their participation in various mass, patriotic, and unifying events.

"It is impossible to predict the topic of conversation at such meetings. We meet with large halls of 600-700 people. This is the active part of our society, workers from enterprises and organizations, and the communication is built in the form of discussions. This format allows us to synchronize and find out what people are living by today. In other regions where such dialogue platforms have already taken place, citizens were concerned about issues of patriotic education, not only for youth but also for workers and the population as a whole, and issues of socio-economic development of our country. We, the trade unions, have a share of responsibility as subjects of civil society; we are responsible for stability in labor collectives so that they do not lose heart and continue to work, despite sanctions and restrictions," emphasized Vadim Grachev, Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus.

Chairperson of the Belarusian Women's Union, Head of the Representation of the Mir Interstate Television and Radio Company Olga Shpilevskaya said that the organization has 62,000 members and is celebrating its 30th anniversary. The range of issues the BSW has dealt with initially concerned the social sphere, and now it covers issues of business and entrepreneurship. "The BSW wing of women entrepreneurs was recently created, and they have become very actively involved in the work. Our women entrepreneurs understand what social responsibility is, they gladly join our events and initiate many of their own," noted the head of the public association.

She said that at the recent Belarusian-Uzbek Women's Forum, representatives of business circles from a friendly country were impressed by what is being done for the development of women's entrepreneurship in our state and actively established contacts. Olga Shpilevskaya also shared that in China, where she visited, the country's residents do not join women's organizations; they are included in such associations from birth.

The event was initiated by the Republican Public Association "Znanie", and its chairman, Director General of the National Library of Belarus Vadim Gigin, noted that such dialogue platforms are always held in a positive atmosphere, and the questions asked by participants allow for a deeper understanding of the issues specific to a particular region. Among the popular topics are the unity of the people and the preservation of peace in the country.-0-
