Alexey Kushnarenko elected member of the Presidium of the Supreme National Council
A vacancy in the Presidium arose in the spring of this year following personnel changes in the government: Konstantin Burak was appointed Assistant to the President - Inspector for the Grodno Region, in connection with which he lost his status as a delegate of the VNS and a member of the Presidium.
The VNS Presidium is a standing collegial body accountable to the Assembly, ensuring the operational resolution of issues within the VNS's competence. The members of the Presidium include the Chairman of the VNS and his deputies. Other members of the Presidium are elected from among the VNS delegates. The maximum number of members of the VNS Presidium is 15 people.
In accordance with the law "On the All-Belarusian People's Assembly," members of the Presidium are elected by secret ballot. However, during the nomination of Alexei Kushnarenko's candidacy, the head of the Belarusian state and Chairman of the VNS, Alexander Lukashenko, noted that the legislation in this regard might need to be adjusted.
