The concept of the regional patriotic event "Breakthrough of Victory" was discussed at the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee
As noted by Dmitry Demidov, Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, "Victory Breakthrough" is a landmark project of the Vitebsk region dedicated to the events of May 1944, when the Polotsk-Lepel partisan formation broke through the enemy blockade, and over 15,000 civilians escaped the encirclement along with the people's avengers. This year's event is also timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The meeting on the heroic land of Ushachi is scheduled for May 2 and 3. This year it will be held for the tenth time. The start will be given in the village of Paulye, where the opening of the reconstructed monument in honor of the soldiers and partisans who fought against the occupiers will take place.
– This monument, erected on a mass grave, was restored by the whole world, with the help of sponsors, trade unions, cultural institutions, and a collection of funds was announced among the residents of the district, – explained Sergey Sadovsky, Chairman of the Ushachi District Executive Committee.
The main event will take place at the "Breakthrough" memorial complex. A rally will be held here with the participation of representatives from all regions of the Vitebsk region, as well as honored guests from the Pskov and Smolensk regions. Thematic platforms, a field kitchen will operate, and amateur art groups will perform. In conclusion, all participants will sing "Victory Day."
– Special attention will be paid to the youth. A Belarusian-Russian gathering of patriotic clubs from the Vitebsk, Pskov, and Smolensk regions called "Heirs of Victory" will be held. The children will take part in the quest "On Partisan Trails," lessons of courage, and the patriotic action "I Would Write on the Reichstag," – explained Sergey Sadovsky.
The next day, May 3, a regional competition of stage skills and a concert will be held on the central square of Ushachi.
