Мастер-классы, творческая встреча и выставка «Страницы Победы». Павильон Витебской области представили на XXXII Дне белорусской письменности в Лиде
For the XXXII Day of Belarusian Written Language in Lida, the Vitebsk region presented its pavilions. Guests of the festival were surprised by traditional crafts from three districts of the northern region, an exhibition of the regional newspaper "Pages of Victory," and a creative meeting with writers from the Dvina region.

In the first hours, the hearts of the townspeople and guests of Lida were captured by a master class on creating engravings.

The interactive activity allows visitors to learn about the history of the oldest city in Belarus – Polotsk.

Alesya Avrusenya, senior researcher at the Polotsk Art Gallery, offers everyone to create an etching (from ready-made engraving plates) with the main symbols of Polotsk. The printing press, brought to the exhibition by Polotsk specialists, is based on a 17th-century prototype.

Deputy Prime Minister Natalya Petkevich participated in the master class on creating engravings. As a memento of the Vitebsk region, she was offered to make an etching with an image of St. Sophia Cathedral.

In addition, the branch of the Polotsk National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve presented facsimile editions of "Apostol," "Psalter," and "Malaya padarozhnaya knizhka" for all book lovers.

Many visitors to the artisans' exhibition want to take home motanka beads as a souvenir.

"We are pleased with the attention to our master class from children. My craftspeople are already afraid that we will have to buy more threads, although the pavilion has only recently opened," admits Inna Karpeka, head of the Dokshitsy House of Crafts.

In addition to the jewelry making master class, everyone can try their hand at patchwork quilting.

From Dokszyce, folk artisans brought works of artistic carving, decorative baskets, and willow bags to Lida. Among the exhibits, visitors pay attention to the collection of rushnyks and straw products.

By the way, straw weaving and fabric painting in the Dokszyce district are included in the list of intangible cultural heritage.

"They say our children are not interested in anything – our master class proves that this is not the case," is confident craftsman Viktor Dudkevich from Hlybokaye. By the way, specifically for the XXXII Day of Belarusian Written Language, the craftsman prepared an imprint dedicated to this year's holiday of written language and offers everyone to leave an image as a souvenir.

Hlybokaye masters also brought filet crochet embroidery, as well as master classes in "vytinanka" (paper cutting) and "malyavanka" (folk painting).

Artisans from Sharkovshchyna demonstrate the technique of weaving pottery with birch bark. Men are particularly interested in the finished products and gladly ask the master to share the working technology.

Victoria Dubovskaya shows young visitors how to make a straw stork in half an hour with her help.

One could immerse themselves in the northern region at a creative meeting with writers from the Vitebsk region.

More than 10 authors from the region presented their work, including Tamara Krasnova-Gusachenko, Nikolai Namestnikov, Svetlana Yakubovskaya, Tatyana Kharitonova, Vasily Koltunov, Igor Prokopovich, and others. The writers read excerpts from their collections to the holiday guests and gladly signed autographs.

Little Nastya received a children's book "Long live the sun!" as a gift from the Orsha writer Sergey Trofimov. The girl came to the holiday with her mother.

– We have already managed to receive small pleasant gifts as souvenirs. My daughter beamed when the author himself presented her with a collection. There is a special atmosphere of creativity at the Vitebsk region's venue. This is exactly how I imagine your region, – Nastya's mother shared.

Another pleasant surprise for the Minister of Information Marat Markov and Deputy Prime Minister Natalya Petkevich was prepared by the Chairperson of the regional branch of the Union of Writers of Belarus, Tamara Krasnova-Gusachenko.

As gifts, the honored guests received her юбилейная 30th book of poetry "Пришли времена" (The Times Have Come) and the almanac "Дзвіна" (Dzvina), which features works by the literary talents of the Vitebsk region.

One of the concepts of the celebration this year was the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.

The regional newspaper "Vitebskiye Vesti" presented the exhibition "Pages of Victory".

Editor-in-Chief Natalya Kamlyova spoke about the unique materials of the newspaper from the war years, as well as from the post-war issues.
