The autumn conscription campaign has started in the Vitebsk region. Today, about 150 people have departed for service in the 103rd Vitebsk Guards Airborne Brigade. The solemn ceremony was held for the first time at the Flag and Emblem Square in Vitebsk.
Vyacheslav Durnov, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, noted that the young men will serve in a unit with a rich history and glorious combat traditions.
- You will guard the borders of the Motherland, the peace and tranquility of our citizens. Remember that you bear a great responsibility for the security and well-being of the country, - emphasized Vyacheslav Durnov. - It is symbolic that the departure is taking place in a new, significant place for us. Here, under the banner of the country, you embark on the path of service to the Republic of Belarus.
Colonel Sergey Kunakhovets, Military Commissar of the Vitebsk Region, emphasized the importance of the day when the recruits join the most respected profession of a Fatherland defender.
- Service in the army will temper and educate you, give you the opportunity to develop further and be a worthy citizen of the country, - assured the military commissar. - Army friendship is the strongest and most genuine.
Valery Ananchenko, Chairman of the Vitebsk City Organization "Brotherhood" of the Belarusian Union of Veterans of the War in Afghanistan, Sergey Denisov, Chairman of the Regional Organization of the Belarusian Union of Officers, and Ekaterina Kushnereva, Chairman of the Regional Organization of Soldiers' Mothers, delivered parting words.
With a sense of pride, entrepreneurs from Shumilino, Alexander and Svetlana Galuzo, saw their son off. Kirill studied to be a logistician at the Vitebsk State Industrial-Technological College. He enrolled in the part-time program at MITSO, taking an academic leave during his service. Recently, his parents opened a second store in Shumilino, which they will hand over to their son after his army service. By the way, Alexander Galuzo served in the airborne forces in his time, as did Kirill's uncle, Andrey Baradyulya.
