The organization of the harvest campaign and sowing of winter crops for the 2027 harvest were discussed at the regional executive committee meeting.
As reported by the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee's Agriculture and Food Committee, Andrey Bulavkin, the harvest campaign will start in about two weeks. It is planned to thresh 298 thousand hectares of grain and leguminous crops and 75 thousand hectares of rapeseed. It is planned to obtain about 1 million tons of grain. In the coming days, flax pulling will begin, for which 11.3 thousand hectares have been allocated. Active work is underway to prepare the combines. This year, spare parts are purchased centrally through the regional agroservice.
More than 1.1 thousand people will be involved in assisting farmers: machine operators and drivers from industrial enterprises and various organizations, students and graduates of educational institutions, as well as almost 50 military personnel.
In the second stage of the harvest campaign, in the second half of September, corn for grain will be threshed, which has been sown three times more than last year. For this purpose, the equipment has been updated, rollers, 30 specialized combines, and attachments for forage harvesters are being purchased.
– Systematic work is underway to ensure that the Vitebsk region has a harvest and concentrates for animal husbandry, – emphasized Andrey Bulavkin.
Touching upon the current situation in the fields, the head of the regional agricultural sales department noted that the first mowing of perennial grasses is being completed. So far, 9 centners of feed units have been prepared per conventional head of cattle, which is 2.5 centners of feed units more than last year.
