Early voting for the Presidential elections of Belarus begins today
Early voting for the Presidential elections of the Republic of Belarus begins today.
Early voting will take place from January 21 to January 25, 2025. During this period, voters who will not be able to come to the polling stations on January 26 have the right to vote. During early voting, precinct commissions will operate from 12:00 to 19:00 without interruption.
On January 26, the main election day, voting will take place from 8:00 to 20:00.
5,325 polling stations have been established throughout the country. Voters included in the lists will be able to receive a ballot by presenting a passport (ID card). In addition, another identity document can be presented – a driver's license, a disability certificate (if it contains a photo), or a pension certificate. For conscripts, a military ID card is provided; for employees of state bodies and organizations – a service ID card. If a citizen has lost their passport (ID card) or it has been stolen, internal affairs bodies issue relevant certificates confirming identity. Young people can vote using a student ID or a pupil's ID.
The ballots are printed in the Belarusian language. In this campaign, they are supplemented with a note for voters - a warning that the law prohibits photo and video recording of a filled ballot, as well as taking ballots outside the polling station. The back of the ballot has color protection. On the eve of the voting, at least two members of the precinct commission must sign the back of the ballot. If such signatures are absent, the ballots will be declared invalid.
On election day, home voting is possible upon voters' applications. If a voter, due to health reasons or other valid reasons, cannot come to the polling station, they have the right to apply in writing or orally to the relevant precinct commission with a request to organize voting at their location. A voter can submit such a request to the precinct commission with the assistance of other persons, for example, relatives or neighbors. Official confirmation of the reasons for being unable to come to the polling station is not required. A voter can apply for organized voting at their location until 6:00 PM on January 26.
A service for finding a polling station is available on the website of the Central Election Commission of Belarus. By providing the necessary data, any voter can find out the location of their polling station to participate in an important event for the country - the presidential election of the Republic of Belarus.-0-
