A year-long subbotnik. The Vitebsk Oblast Media Center discussed the events of the Year of Improvement

The regional plan of events for the Year of Improvement includes numerous labor campaigns and detachments aimed at improving memorials, memorable and significant places, and greening the territories of settlements. The repair and construction of the street and road network, parking lots and parking spaces, sports and children's playgrounds will continue. Important areas include ensuring the operation of water supply systems, involving unused land plots in economic circulation, and tidying up production facilities. The initiated and upcoming tasks were discussed at the press conference "Improvement with an Emphasis on Quality" at the Vitebsk Region Media Center.

Improvement is a common cause that everyone must mobilize for. Only together can we create and preserve a comfortable, cozy, and beautiful living environment around us.

IT WAS SAID:
The month of improvement currently underway in the Vitebsk region will conclude with the Republican Subbotnik. The funds raised will be transferred to the construction of the National Historical Museum of Belarus.
The opening of the square of the flag and coat of arms in the regional center will take place as part of the celebration of the Day of the State Flag, State Coat of Arms, and State Anthem of the Republic of Belarus.
In commemoration of Orsha's nomination for the honorary title of the CIS "City of Labor Glory. 1941 – 1945" the public garden and the stele "Orsha – City of Labor Glory" will be improved.

Calculated until December
– A schedule for the improvement of significant objects in the region has been approved – at least one per month, – said Dmitry Petrusha, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee. – It is calculated until December. The measures are aimed at greening territories, developing parks and public gardens, improving memorable places, and recreational areas – eco-trails, springs.
So, in the spring, a square in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory will be laid in Chashniki, and a park with an Alley of Memory on the Mound of Glory in the Glubokoye district. Hundreds of trees will be planted at the "Fifth Regiment" memorial complex in Vitebsk, and in June, a memorial sign to the victims of the genocide of the Belarusian people will be opened here. A monument will be erected at the military burial site in the village of Paulyie, Ushachi district, in May…
This is a basic plan, which may be supplemented with other activities during its implementation.
Vitebsk region will not be limited to the spring republican subbotnik. Throughout the year, they will be organized at all levels, from regional to district and city.

Interaction is invited

– We plan to repair 1.3 million square meters of roads, which is almost 30% more than the actual figure for 2023, – said Yuri Dyadyolo, head of the main department of housing and communal services of the regional executive committee, reminding about the tasks for the street and road network of settlements. – We will replace 13.7 thousand LED streetlights. This provides 50-60% energy savings and ensures better lighting.
The region plans to build 11 new iron removal stations, 195 mini-stations, as well as equip 25 and repair more than 280 children's sports and playgrounds.
Many residents of apartment buildings are willing to participate in tidying up the territories of their homes. Utility services are ready to meet them halfway, providing work tools, soil, transport, and planting material. Initiators can contact their housing and utility departments to organize interaction.

Ecologists on alert

– The plans for the Year of Improvement for the northern region are ambitious: planting 30 thousand trees, 28 thousand shrubs, and 3.5 million seedlings are planned, – emphasized Anna Galuzo, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection. – All districts have actively joined the work. A Unified Greening Day will be held. It is time to update the trees planted in the courtyards by representatives of the military and post-war generations.
Creating a favorable habitat is not just about planting greenery. It involves carrying out environmental protection campaigns, including those with the participation of public ecologists: "Let's Do It," "Clean Forest," "Clean Water Body."
We are strengthening efforts to prevent the formation and eliminate unauthorized landfills, the burning of dry vegetation, and to ensure compliance with the regulations for economic activities in water protection zones and coastal strips.

Based on citizens' proposals

– The most important and valuable aspect of civil initiative projects is that their authors and implementers are the people themselves, – noted Ekaterina Lazovskaya, Director of the Executive Directorate of the Regional Association of Local Councils of Deputies. – All of them have public significance, and 90% are related to improvement.
In 2024, 23 projects were submitted for the association's consideration, 16 were recognized as the best and have already been implemented locally. In 2025, 64 projects were presented, 15 of which will receive funding of about 400 thousand rubles for implementation. Which ones exactly will be announced in the coming days.

Addresses of transformations

– In the district, a decision was made to assign organizations to common lands, rural councils, and military burials, – reported Inna Khomutovskaya, Chairperson of the Orsha District Executive Committee. – 10 landmark sites have been identified for district clean-up events. Among them are the Park of Heroes, the Coat of Arms and Flag Square, Yakubovsky Park, and the beach in Kopys urban settlement.
Improvement will affect significant facilities such as the children's park, the beach on Korotkevich Street, and the bridge on Shklovskaya Street in the district center. The construction of a patriotic club will continue. Ag. Smolyany will be transformed for the district festival-fair of agricultural workers.

Driven by requests

– Local authorities are conducting extensive outreach with the public to involve them in the implementation of the Year of Improvement tasks, – said Igor Urban, Chairman of the Lepel District Council of Deputies. – We want the residents of our region to be proud of their history. To this end, in the village of Borovka, we are installing a monumental monument in honor of the cadets and commanders of the local infantry and mortar schools who bore the brunt of the heavy fighting in 1941.
In the same Borovka, a beach is needed: in the summer, up to a hundred people rest on Lake Shchibot daily. We are carrying out preparatory work to give official status to this informal recreation area. We have cleaned the bottom, installed containers for garbage collection, a changing room, and other improvement elements – all at the expense of self-taxation funds.
To minimize heavy manual labor, a sweeping and cleaning machine and a municipal vacuum cleaner were purchased for the district. Maintaining order has become easier and faster, and the freed-up personnel can be involved in work in other areas.
