The museum of the history of the educational institution was opened at Polotsk College of PSU named after P. Masherov after reconstruction
The museum of the history of the educational institution has been opened after reconstruction at the Polotsk State College of the Educational Institution "VSU named after P.M. Masherov".
The significant event is timed to the Day of the October Revolution and the 85th anniversary of vocational education in Belarus.
The chairman of the Polotsk District Executive Committee Vasily Shilov, the vice-rector of VSU named after P.M. Masherov Irina Syomkina, teachers and students of the college, and clergy took part in the celebration.
The history of the current college dates back to 1872, when a teacher's seminary was opened in Polotsk. Throughout its existence, the name and status have changed, but the essence has remained the same: future teachers of various specialties are trained here.
The museum's exhibition presents the milestones in the history of one of the oldest educational institutions in the country. It houses archival materials, rare documents, photo chronicles, numerous awards, achievements of the educational institution, and tells about famous graduates.
As part of the museum opening, college teachers and students introduced the attendees to the exhibits and the main stages of the educational institution's development and formation, from the opening of the teacher's seminary to its integration with Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov.
Vasily Shilov thanked the college administration for carefully preserving the history of the educational institution and passing on the best traditions of youth education from generation to generation.
The museum of the educational institution was established in 1972 for the 100th anniversary of the Polotsk Pedagogical College named after Francysk Skaryna on the initiative of the college director Pyotr Patsay. During the creation of the museum, about 2,000 letters were sent to archives, public education authorities, and former graduates. Numerous documents, photographs of graduates, and their memories of their years of study made it possible to reconstruct the history of the college and assemble a rich exhibition.
