In the agro-town of Gomel, Polotsk district, the memorial complex "Partisans of the K.E. Voroshilov Brigade" was opened after reconstruction.

The initiative for landscaping, comprehensive repair, and restoration of the memorial in memory of the fallen Soviet soldiers and partisans during the Great Patriotic War was implemented by UP "Vitebskoblvodokanal". In a relatively short period, a large scope of work was carried out here: restoration of the memorial, granite cladding of individual elements, painting, laying new paving tiles, installation of modern lighting, and landscaping.

– The memorial complex, which we are opening today after modernization, is not just a monument of history, it is a place of memory, a tribute to the feat of heroes, a place of sorrow and pride. I am sure that the opening of the complex will contribute to our civic formation and patriotic education not only of our children but also of ourselves. It is important to remember the history of our people and honor the memory of heroes. And to pass it on from generation to generation, only then can we preserve peace and stability on our land, – said the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, addressing the attendees.

After the solemn opening, the updated memorial complex was digitized. This significant place has been assigned a QR code, which will help everyone who visits this memorial to access a platform where they can learn about its history with a simple gesture.
The participants of the event honored the memory of the heroes with a minute of silence and, as a sign of gratitude, laid flowers at the foot of the memorial.

The solemn event was attended by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies Dmitry Demidov, the Assistant to the President – Inspector for the Vitebsk Region Vladimir Yurgevich, and the Chairman of the Polotsk District Executive Committee Vasily Shilov.

The memorial complex was erected in memory of 580 fallen partisans of the K.E. Voroshilov brigade, which included the detachments "Mstitel" (Avenger), "Za Rodinu" (For the Motherland), "Smert' fashizmu" (Death to Fascism), "KIM", "Bolshevik", and named after Gastello. The brigade's detachments operated in the occupied territory of Vetrynsky, Ushachsky, and Plissky districts. The partisans struck at the Polotsk – Molodechno railway, as well as on highway and dirt roads. The brigade waged fierce battles to hold its deployment area until its link-up with the Red Army on July 1, 1944.
