Vitebsk summarized the region's education performance for 2024
In 2024, more than 81 million rubles were allocated for repair work and equipment procurement. Within the framework of the state program "Education and Youth Policy," work is being carried out on the construction and reconstruction of nine educational facilities, five of which have already been commissioned. Last year, major repairs were carried out in 18 institutions, and this year such work is planned in 16 institutions.
For 2025, more than 11 million rubles are envisaged for ensuring safe conditions in educational institutions. In 2024, 41 school buses were purchased in the Vitebsk region. Currently, 322 school buses are in operation in the region, and it is planned to purchase another 43.
Among the problems hindering the implementation of tasks to improve the quality of education, Dmitry Khoma noted the high incidence of injuries among kindergarten pupils. This is due to insufficient control by the administration and educators. There is a lack of strategic approaches to optimizing the network of institutions and consolidating preschool education groups.
The head of the regional education department emphasized the need to increase the efficiency of vocational orientation classes, taking into account the needs of the economy, as well as the importance of staffing integrated education groups. Issues of employment for children over 14 years of age require attention, as does the need to establish cooperation with local labor, employment, and social protection departments.
Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Vyacheslav Durnov, summarizing the results of the education sector, noted that all tasks set by the President and the government in the region were strived to be fulfilled. However, serious challenges remain.
He noted that despite positive results in national indicators, high levels of juvenile delinquency and suicides have a negative impact.
Vyacheslav Durnov announced the development of an action algorithm to solve these problems, which will include all educational institutions.
"The upbringing of a personality, a citizen, and a patriot is a complex task that cannot be solved without the active participation of parents and other organizations, including cultural and sports institutions," he added.
The Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee expressed gratitude to the teaching staff for the successful organization of the Presidential elections in Belarus, noting that the staff of educational institutions actively participated in the electoral process.
Deputy Minister of Education Sergey Rudy drew attention to the key areas and problems that were announced at the final meeting of the ministry last week. One of the main tasks remains the prevention of child deaths, including cases of suicide and parasuicide.
"We urge you to analyze the situation and propose effective methods and technologies that can be applied not only in the Vitebsk region but also beyond," said Sergey Rudy, emphasizing the importance of protecting children from violence both within and outside the family.
He also noted the need to revise approaches to managing small educational institutions to ensure more efficient use of resources.
"In recent years, we have not paid enough attention to the optimization of educational institutions and staff positions. There is a significant number of vacancies in the education system," said Sergey Rudy. "It is important to understand that the maintenance of individual institutions must be justified."
The work on ensuring quality nutrition was deemed insufficient.
– We are taking measures to eliminate all identified shortcomings, – he noted, adding that it is necessary to strictly monitor compliance with sanitary standards.
The Deputy Minister also touched upon the issue of updating the school vehicle fleet. According to him, funds are allocated annually from the republican budget for the purchase of school buses, and this work will continue.
In conclusion, Sergey Rudy expressed his gratitude to all education workers of the Vitebsk region for their diligent and high-quality work aimed at educating and nurturing children, as well as at developing the education system in the region.
Following the results of the year, the best teams of institutions, educators, and education leaders were awarded in a solemn ceremony.
