The Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee discussed issues of socio-economic development of the Vitebsk region for the first quarter of 2025
This was stated at a meeting of the regional executive committee, which discussed the socio-economic development of the Vitebsk region for the first quarter of 2025 and improving the efficiency of organizations.
In a conversation with journalists, Deputy Chairperson of the Regional Executive Committee Anzhelika Nikitina noted that, given the sufficiently high base for all parameters of the same period last year, we performed commendably in the first quarter of 2025. Industrial production growth of 102.7% was ensured (excluding oil products due to the current market situation), retail and public catering turnover, investments in fixed assets, and passenger and freight turnover were increased. The largest growth was observed in high-tech sectors – pharmaceuticals, electrical equipment, and others. All targets were met by the construction industry, including housing commissioning. The agricultural complex slightly fell short on some indicators. However, the lag will be eliminated by the end of May.
Currently, Vitebsk region is one of the few regions meeting the export target to the Russian Federation. In general, by the end of the first half of the year, a growth rate of 105% for foreign supplies is planned.
94 enterprises are producing import-substituting products, and eleven are launching new projects.
Work is actively underway within the framework of the "Regional Initiative": 4 projects have already been submitted, and another 15 are under consideration.
The meeting of the regional executive committee analyzed shortcomings and reserves that will help increase the efficiency of the Vitebsk region's economy.
