A seminar of diving and rescue services of the Ministries of Emergency Situations of Belarus, Russia, and Kazakhstan has started in the Vitebsk region.
The main goal of the seminar is to exchange experience between diving and rescue service personnel and to train staff in safe methods of conducting diving operations with light diving and ventilated equipment, carrying out underwater search and rescue operations, as well as underwater technical work in conditions of negative air temperatures.
The seminar opening took place early in the morning. As part of it, participants laid flowers at the mass grave of soldiers and partisans who fell during the liberation of Glubokoye in July 1944. Deputy Head of the Regional Emergency Management Department Sergey Markevich said: "The victory in the Great Patriotic War is an unshakable history that we carry through time, pass on to children, and preserve as the great heritage of the victorious people."
The next stage of the seminar was the theoretical part. Participants reviewed issues of labor protection and medical support for diving operations, general methods and techniques for conducting rescue, search, and underwater technical work, rigging and delivering items to the surface, and providing assistance to a distressed diver under the ice. In addition, tragic cases of death of divers were also considered.
A significant part was devoted to studying modern types of diving equipment, gear, and technology, their characteristics, and application features, including a diving complex based on a MAZ chassis, Oceanreef Alpha Pro X-divers underwater communication, etc.
Already tomorrow, the seminar participants will move on to its practical part: rescuing victims, performing underwater technical work, etc. By the way, the seminar is taking place on the deepest lake in Belarus. Due to its depth, water clarity, and steep shores, it is often called the "Belarusian Baikal".
