In the Vitebsk region, 220 schoolchildren and teachers were recognized for their success in the Olympiad movement
As part of the "Our Children" campaign in Vitebsk, the results of schoolchildren's participation in various Olympiads and contests were summarized.
– Each of you is not just a winner, you are the pride of our region, – noted the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin. – Your determination and perseverance inspire not only you, but also us.
He added that students from the Vitebsk region consistently hold leading positions in the country, confirming the high level of education in the region.
– May your award become an incentive for new achievements and open doors to new opportunities. Remember that success is the result of joint efforts of you and your parents. Convey to them my sincere gratitude and wishes for health and well-being, – Alexander Subbotin addressed the young talents.
In addition to students from Vitebsk, Novopolotsk, and Polotsk, awards were presented to children from Beshenkovichi, Gluboksky, Postavy, Chashniki, and other districts. According to the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, this once again confirms that gifted children and talented teachers are present in every district of the Vitebsk region.
Alexander Subbotin expressed confidence that future generations will become active citizens and patriots of their country, emphasizing that tomorrow depends on them.

The region's award collection includes a medal at the International Chemistry Olympiad, three winners of the International Mathematics Olympiad, the same number of winners at the International Biology Olympiad, two winners of the International Junior Geography Olympiad, three winners and third team place at the final stage of the Union State schoolchildren's Olympiad "Russia and Belarus: Historical and Spiritual Community". In addition, 106 diplomas and third place at the final stage of the republican Olympiad in academic subjects, 29 diplomas at the republican competition of research works by students in academic subjects.
– Participation in Olympiads is an exciting but demanding process, as this work requires significant potential and time, – noted Alexander Shugol, a mathematics teacher at Gymnasium No. 2 in Vitebsk, who was among the awardees. – Olympiads become a stimulus for continuous self-improvement for both students and teachers, as the tasks are regularly updated and require new approaches. I start working with the children even before they transition to middle school – from the 4th grade. I pay attention to their abilities, and by the 5th grade, I already know who I can work with further. When the children come to the 7th grade, our classes become more intensive: we study mathematics after lessons for 2-2.5 hours. Only such an approach allows us to achieve results.
Alexander Shugol admitted that he was pleased to be invited to such an event.
– I am proud of the гимназисты and their successes – this confirms that we are moving in the right direction, – he summarized.
Eleventh-graders Margarita Derbenyova and Nikita Evdokimov from Secondary School No. 7 in Vitebsk are winners of the biology research paper competition.
– Our research subject was ground beetles, – the children shared. – These small insects, about 3-4 cm in size, play an important role in the ecosystem. While walking in the forest, we had the idea to find out their significance in nature. We began our research in the spring, when ground beetles emerge from hibernation, and completed it in late autumn.
– Receiving an invitation to a ceremony before the New Year was a real gift for us, – the schoolchildren added, rejoicing in the awards and attention from the top officials of the region.
Winner of the international biology olympiad Alexander Drozd, yesterday a cadet of the Vitebsk Cadet School, and today a student of the Faculty of Biology of Belarusian State University.
– Thanks to my victory at the international biology olympiad, I was able to enroll in Belarusian State University without exams. In my opinion, the specialization I chose – biotechnology – is one of the most promising and in-demand, as there is a shortage of specialists in this field, – Alexander shared. – Now I am focused on further activities in science, I plan to enter a master's program, and then a postgraduate program. I intend to deepen my knowledge and obtain higher academic degrees in order to then contribute to the development of science and benefit my country.
