Nikolai Sherstnev at the regional executive committee meeting: further development of the Vitebsk region's agro-industrial complex lies in the creation of large-scale production

Further development of the Vitebsk region's agro-industrial complex lies in the creation of large-scale production. This was stated by the head of the region, Nikolai Sherstnev, at a meeting of the regional executive committee with the participation of the Government during the discussion of the efficiency of the region's agro-industrial complex development under Decree No. 70.

- Today, the region has 15 cattle fattening complexes with a capacity of 63,000 places, and 22 pig complexes for 512,000 heads. Their operational life is 30-40 years. Without major repairs and modernization, their further operation is unpromising and inexpedient.

In general, the region needs to repair 250 production facilities for 55-60 thousand heads of cattle in the shortest possible time, and this is only one-fifth of the region's livestock population. The main issue hindering this work is the lack of funding sources. The facilities are not included in state programs for the current five-year period, and there are no available loans. In this situation, without state assistance, it is impossible to proceed, - emphasized Nikolai Sherstnev.
