On the harm of negative emotions

Each person copes with negative emotions differently. Alexander, a 33-year-old resident of Vitebsk, decided to shed the burden of his emotions in a peculiar way. While in the entrance hall of one of the buildings in Vitebsk, the young man, being in a state of alcoholic intoxication, grossly violated public order and showed clear disrespect for society, demonstrating his drunken bravado, brute force, extreme impudence, striving to show his disregard for generally accepted rules of coexistence, norms of morality, ethics, and culture of behavior of people in public places, the rights of others, demonstrating his desire to desecrate the interests of society with particular audacity, as well as striving to show his physical strength, capacity for outrage, and also with the aim of causing substantial harm to the peaceful atmosphere, without any cause or grounds, intentionally, without reason, out of hooligan motives, struck the residents' mailboxes at least 4 times with his hands, as a result of which he damaged the said mailboxes in the form of dents, thereby causing property damage in the amount of 200,000 rubles. Continuing his actions, Alexander, disturbing the peace of the residents, threw a flower pot from the windowsill in the entrance hall onto the floor, and upon going outside, continued his hooligan actions and began to strike a nearby car. The car owner also suffered property damage totaling 4,382,800 rubles. Alexander did not know any of the victims and had no reason to harm them. The accused explained his behavior by his state of alcoholic intoxication. By the verdict of the court of the Zheleznodorozhny district of Vitebsk, Alexander was sentenced to restriction of liberty for a term of 1 year and 6 months without being sent to an open-type correctional institution.
