On the election of the President of the Republic of Belarus
The House of Representatives of the National Assembly has scheduled the elections of the President of the Republic of Belarus for January 26, 2025.
Early voting in the elections of the President of the Republic of Belarus will begin on January 21, 2025, and will continue for five days.
The results of the elections of the President of the Republic of Belarus will be established by the Central Election Commission no later than February 5, 2025. If necessary (no later than February 9, 2025), a second round of voting will be held.
The list of citizens eligible to participate in the elections includes citizens of the Republic of Belarus who have the right to vote and have reached the age of 18 by or on the day of the elections, and who are registered at the time of compilation of the list at their place of residence or place of stay within the territory of the given polling station. Citizens registered at their place of stay are included in the list only at the polling station of their place of stay.
A citizen eligible to participate in the elections can only be included in the list at one polling station.
At the same time, the exercise of their civil rights by citizens must be carried out in strict accordance with the current legislation.
The Electoral Code stipulates that each voter votes in person; voting for other persons is not permitted.
The ballot paper is issued to the voter by the precinct election commission based on the list of citizens eligible to participate in the elections, upon presentation of a passport of a citizen of the Republic of Belarus (identification card of a citizen of the Republic of Belarus) or another document determined by the Central Commission. Upon receiving the ballot paper, the voter signs in the corresponding column of the said list.
The ballot paper is filled out by the voter in the booth or room for
secret voting. No one other than the voter is allowed to be present when filling out the ballot paper.A voter who is unable to fill out the ballot paper independently has the right to invite another person of their choice into the booth or room for secret voting, except for members of the precinct and higher commissions, candidates for President of the Republic of Belarus, for deputies, and their proxies.
When voting in elections, the voter places any mark in the empty square located to the right of the surname of the candidate for whom they are voting. If the voter votes against all candidates, they place any mark in the empty square located to the right of the line "Against all candidates".
If only one candidate's surname is included in the ballot paper, then when voting for the candidate, the voter places any mark in the square under the word "for", and when voting against the candidate, they place any mark in the square under the word "against".
The voter, a participant in the referendum, drops the completed ballot paper into the ballot box.
It is forbidden to take the issued ballot paper outside the polling station, as well as to carry out photo and video recording of the completed ballot paper.
