Regional Agricultural Production: Vitebsk region to start mass corn harvesting this week
Almost all districts, except for Dubrovensky, Lepelsky, Polotsky, Ushachsky, and Sharkovshchinsky, have started harvesting the crop. The first 1.8 thousand hectares, or 2% of the areas, have been harvested. The yield of green corn mass is 220.6 centners per hectare. 74.4 thousand tons of feed units have been procured, or 16.7 centners per conventional head of cattle.
The harvesting campaign is nearing completion in the region. 329.7 thousand hectares of grain, or 93% of the plan, have already been harvested. Agrarians of Postavsky and Verkhnedvinsky districts have fully completed the harvest. Most districts have surpassed the 90% mark. Less than this benchmark has been harvested in Ushachsky, Shumilinsky, Tolochinsky, and Senno districts. The total grain yield is 1 million 33 thousand tons of grain with an average yield of 31.3 centners per hectare. The highest yields are in Orshansky (42.6 centners per hectare) and Vitebsky (40.5 centners per hectare) districts. Agrarians of nine districts are yielding more than 30 centners per hectare.
Other types of autumn agricultural work are also progressing rapidly. Thus, half of the areas, or 16.8 thousand hectares, of spring rapeseed have been harvested. 22.5 thousand tons of oilseeds have been threshed with an average yield of 13.4 centners per hectare. The pulling of flax is being completed. 20% of the pulled flax areas have been pressed with an average number of 0.85. All districts have started sowing winter grains. Work has been completed on an area of 22.9 thousand hectares, which is 9% of the plan.
