Regional Agricultural Products Department: Vitebsk region agrarians will carry out the first mowing of herbaceous fodder on an area of 210 thousand hectares
Due to the cool spring, grasses are lagging in their development, so the harvesting of herbaceous fodder in the Vitebsk region this year will begin somewhat later than usual.
As reported by the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Regional Executive Committee, farmers in the northern region will have to carry out the first mowing on an area of 210 thousand hectares. In total, this year, agricultural organizations of the region need to harvest 125 thousand tons of hay, 2 million 25 thousand tons of haylage, and 2 million 40 thousand tons of silage to enter the winter stall period of 2022–2023 with an indicator of 30 centners of fodder units per conventional head.
