Regional Agricultural Production: Flax Pulling in Vitebsk Region Expected to be Completed by Mid-August
This year, 13.2 thousand hectares of flax are to be harvested in the region. Sowing is concentrated in Verkhnedvinsk, Gluboksky, Dubrovensky, Liozno, Miory, Postavy and Tolochin districts. As of the morning of August 4, 43% of the areas of this crop, or 5.7 thousand hectares, have been pulled. More than half is in Dubrovensky, Liozno and Orsha districts. The average harvesting rate is 3% of the area per day. 130 tons of flax straw have been pressed, 31 tons of flaxseed have been threshed. The turning of the mown flax straw is now actively underway.
"Given the favorable weather, it is planned to complete this scope of work by the middle of the month," stated the specialists, noting that the main efforts of the region's rural workers are now focused on grain harvesting. The agrarians have managed to pick up a good pace. 77.5 thousand hectares have been harvested (20% of the areas). 258 thousand tons of grain have been threshed with an average yield of 33.3 centners per hectare. Chashniksky, Miory, Verkhnedvinsk and Postavy districts maintain their leading positions in the harvest.
