Regional Agricultural and Food Department: Eight districts of the Vitebsk region have started harvesting fodder crops
Agricultural enterprises in eight districts of the Vitebsk region have begun harvesting grass forage. This was reported by the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
This summer, farms in the northern region began harvesting grass forage five days later than last year, only on June 5. Shumilino and Orsha districts were the first to start this work, and now Vitebsk, Gorodok, Polotsk, Postavy, Rossono, and Dokshitsy districts have joined. "This year, grasses are ripening a week and a half later than last year's dates. Agricultural enterprises in all districts are already mowing, but only eight are currently harvesting. As of June 6, 7 thousand hectares have been mowed in the region, which is 3% of the total area. 2 thousand tons of feed units have been harvested. All necessary measures have been taken in the region to harvest high-quality feed: silage, haylage, and hay," the regional agricultural committee reported.

The first grass mowing in the Vitebsk region will be completed in the third decade of June. It will be carried out on 210 thousand hectares. Agrarians of the Vitebsk region plan to harvest 30 centners of feed units per conventional head. In total, for the season, it is planned to harvest 2.025 million tons of haylage, 2.040 million tons of silage, and 125 thousand tons of hay.
