Regional Health Department: Mask regime introduced in all districts of Vitebsk region

The mask regime has been introduced in all districts of the Vitebsk region, reported Mikhail Vishnevetsky, head of the main department for healthcare of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

The head of the regional health department emphasized the need for a responsible attitude towards compliance with the mask regime and other recommendations of doctors. "This is primarily an important element of caring for your own health and the health of your loved ones, as you can get infected with coronavirus infection repeatedly, and given a weakened immune system, this can threaten serious consequences. In addition, it is a sign of respect for the work of doctors who are now very heavily loaded with work, trying to help all patients," Mikhail Vishnevetsky stressed.

Currently, the incidence of pneumonia and coronavirus infection is growing in the region. Taking into account the epidemiological situation, a number of healthcare institutions are being repurposed. Since November 13, the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Maternity Hospital has been repurposed to provide specialized medical care to pregnant women and gynecological patients with COVID-19 infection. Healthy mothers have been redirected to City Maternity Hospital No. 2. From November 16, the surgical building of the regional oncology dispensary with 150 beds will begin to receive patients with COVID-19. Patient rehabilitation is carried out at the Yurtsevo hospital (Orsha district). About a hundred people are currently there. Its capacity is currently used by half: the hospital's capabilities allow for up to 210 beds to be deployed.

Convalescent patients from Vitebsk and nearby regions are being treated at regional institutions – the center for medical rehabilitation of internationalist soldiers and the center for psychiatry and narcology. From November 21, the rehabilitation department "Zheleznyaki" of the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Cardiology Center will also be involved for these purposes. Their total capacity is about 300 beds. "Treatment of patients from other districts of the region is carried out in their medical institutions, as long as they cope," added Mikhail Vishnevetsky.
