Regional Health Department: Almost 780 young specialists will come to work in healthcare facilities of the Vitebsk region
"The staff of the region's healthcare institutions will be replenished by 203 doctors, 179 interns, and 396 mid-level medical workers. Compared to last year, the figures for mid-level medical workers have increased by about 15%, as the intake into medical colleges was increased earlier. For doctors, the intake remained at the same level. However, the number of interns has decreased compared to last year. This is due to the fact that in 2014-2016, the intake was reduced, and this year we received significantly fewer intern doctors than last year," the department explained.
The distribution of young specialists will help solve the staffing issue in many polyclinics and hospitals in the Vitebsk region. "We believe this will help fill the shortage of specialists, primarily in the Polotsk region, Novopolotsk, as well as in the Vitebsk City Central Polyclinic, where there was also a need for general practitioners. We think that this year they have been significantly helped by distributing the required number of specialists there," the department noted.
Speaking about narrow specialists, they added that there is a need for general practitioners at the Rossonskaya Central District Hospital. Anesthesiologists and resuscitators are needed at the Braslavskaya Central District Hospital, surgeons at the Gorodokskaya Central District Hospital and other regions of the oblast. First and foremost, young specialists are assigned to districts and cities where there is the greatest need for narrow specialists.
