Regional Health Department: Reconstruction and modernization of healthcare facilities will continue in the Vitebsk region

In 2022, the reconstruction of the Vitebsk City Central Clinical Hospital and the construction of a dormitory building for the "Zhemchuzhina" Children's Rehabilitation and Health Center in the Lepel district will be completed. This was announced at the final board meeting by Mikhail Vishnevetsky, Head of the Main Department for Healthcare of the Regional Executive Committee.

"To improve the quality of medical services, foster innovative development of the sector, and implement advanced achievements in clinical practice, the resource base of healthcare institutions in the region is being modernized. This year, major repairs will continue in the Liozno and Dokshitsy Central District Hospitals. Repair work at the Sennno Central District Hospital has reached its final stage," emphasized the head of the regional healthcare department.

This year will also see the start of the reconstruction of treatment building No. 2 of the Regional Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital and the construction of a new polyclinic in the Aeroport microdistrict of Polotsk. The construction of a polyclinic in the new microdistrict of Orsha, which began last year, will also continue, with its commissioning planned for 2023.

The head of the regional healthcare department also noted the achievements in strengthening the material and technical base last year. "Over Br47 million was utilized for repair and construction work. Last year, building No. 2 of the Regional Clinical Oncology Dispensary was commissioned after reconstruction, and the central district polyclinic in Shumilino after repairs. In addition, the reconstruction of the building of the Regional Clinical Center for Medical Rehabilitation for Disabled and Veteran Servicemembers of combat operations in other states and the building of the dispensary of the Clinical Center for Psychiatry and Narcology were completed, as well as the modernization of the Mezhevskaya District Hospital in the Orsha district," said Mikhail Vishnevetsky.

The head of the regional health department added that in the context of COVID-19, healthcare institutions in the region received assistance in strengthening their material and technical base. Last year, 12 oxygen supply and distribution stations were modernized and replaced, four rapid deployment oxygen supply systems were installed, and 782 additional respiratory support points were added. More than 1.7 thousand units of medical equipment were purchased for Br17 million, including laparoscopic systems, stationary portable ultrasound diagnostic machines, ventilators, X-ray machines, and oxygen concentrators.
