Regional Health Department: A new surgical and intensive care unit will be built at Vitebsk Regional Hospital

A new operating and resuscitation unit will be built at the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Hospital. Mikhail Vishnevetsky, head of the main department for healthcare of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, told reporters about this before a meeting with the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic, Natalya Kochanova, in Polotsk.

The head of the regional health department noted that pre-project documentation will be developed by the end of April, which will determine the details of the construction of this important social facility for the city and region, as well as funding sources. "In general, the reconstruction of the regional hospital, as per the instructions of the head of state, will be carried out comprehensively, and its first stage will be the construction of an operating and resuscitation unit using modern technologies. It will be a new building with 16 operating rooms and a resuscitation department with 24 beds. Subsequently, phases have been allocated, within which the remaining buildings will be modernized over several years. The regional hospital is a flagship in the region's healthcare system. It has over a thousand beds. It is multidisciplinary. Today, the reconstruction of the facility is important for the entire region. And, of course, the hospital will be equipped with modern medical equipment," emphasized Mikhail Vishnevetsky.

The head of the regional health department also said that this year, after reconstruction, the Vitebsk City Central Hospital (CCH) will be commissioned. The healthcare institution will, among other things, have oxygen supply to each bed, and after opening, the regional clinical specialized center will be based at the CCH. Landscaping work will be carried out at the healthcare facility during the republican subbotnik.
